Royal Phnom Penh Golf Club
The Royal Cambodia Phnom Penh Golf Club, located just 8 kilometers from Phnom Penh International Airport and 20 minutes from the capital, offers a convenient and accessible golfing experience. Opened in 1999, it was Cambodia’s second golf course and spans 7,075 yards with a par-72 layout.
Designed by P and Z Development Limited, the course is set over 200 hectares, blending with its natural surroundings of rice paddies and coconut palms. It is a favored spot for many of Cambodia's politicians, including Prime Minister Hun Sen, who once scored a hole-in-one here in 2004.
Emphasizing environmental sustainability, the course incorporates native flowers, palms, and bushes, and features a natural wetland that enhances its scenic appeal. Local wildlife can often be seen around the ponds and streams.
Despite its flat terrain, the course presents challenges with numerous sand and water hazards, including a large lake on the third hole. Water comes into play on 12 of the 18 holes, and the greenside bunkers demand precise approach shots to fast, undulating greens.
The club offers a large driving range for practice and warm-up, and the traditional Cambodian clubhouse aligns with environmental values, using solar energy for hot water. It provides a relaxing atmosphere to unwind after a round.
