Pattaya golf courses

Pattaya, a vibrant region in Thailand, is a top destination for golf enthusiasts, boasting over 20 diverse golf courses. Its appeal is evident as even Bangkok residents frequently visit for golfing weekends and holidays. The area's rapid growth, fueled by substantial investments, enhances both the city and its golf offerings, making it a prime spot for golfers seeking variety.

Among the top courses is the Burapha International Golf Club, featuring two links-style courses and a reputation on the professional Thai golf tour. Although it's a bit of a drive from the city, the experience is well worth the effort. Crystal Bay Golf Club, though also requiring travel, offers great surroundings and a satisfying challenge. Greenwood Golf Club, designed by the legendary Peter Thomson, is known for its beautiful layout and challenging bunkers, offering excellent value for money.

Closer to Pattaya's city center, Laem Chabang International Country Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus, stands out with its natural beauty and superb facilities. The Siam Country Club, with its three courses—Plantation, Waterside, and the LPGA-hosted Old Course—is another must-play. These courses, along with others like Pattaya Country Club Golf Resort and St Andrews 2000, make Pattaya a golfer’s paradise.

When planning a golf trip to Pattaya, consider the weather. The cool season from November to February offers perfect conditions but is also the busiest, making advance bookings essential. Accommodation in Pattaya caters to all preferences, from budget hotels to luxurious beachside resorts. For a peaceful, golf-focused holiday, resorts like Pattana Golf Club and Resort offer everything a golfer could need, including a 27-hole championship course and top-notch facilities.

For the best experience, it’s advisable to book tee times in advance, especially for weekends, as courses can get crowded. Weekday bookings are more economical and easier to secure. Pattaya’s golf scene, combined with its vibrant city life, makes it a premier destination for both casual and dedicated golfers.

Emerald Golf Club is one of the prettiest and perhaps underrated golf courses in the Pattaya area hidden away in the forest and mountains close to Rayong also offering some wonderful holes designed by two golfing greats. The course is in in the process of being sold so the upkeep is inconsistent but still makes for a very enjoyable day out.

St. Andrews 2000 doesn’t quite emulate its namesake but this Desmond Muirhead design is a monster par 74 measuring 7,700 yards from the back tees which includes two huge par 6’s. This is not one for the hacker!

Silky Oak Country Club is a recent addition to the St Andrews 2000 family named after the trees that line most fairways. A good resort course which is ideal for higher handicappers and excellent value for money.

Siam Country is well known to those who play golf regularly in Thailand. It is also highly regarded outside the country and has received many rave reviews throughout the years. The course is close to the mouth of the Bangpakong River and many of the holes run beside the water and there is a large lake surrounding most of the course which you will encounter as you make your way around. Being so close to the ocean you can often enjoy cooling seas breezes which when they freshen can make club selection trickier. The greens are quite difficult with plenty of bumps and hollows and they are also extremely fast.

Parichat International Golf Links is one of the newest additions to the Pattaya golfing scene and is located around 30 minutes from downtown Pattaya. Quite a short course and needs time to mature but what it lacks in length it makes up with water which comes into play on almost every hole so high handicappers might have a long day and will certainly need plenty of balls.

Unlike many of the other courses in the area there are significant elevation changes on Khao Kheow Country Club which makes the course play quite long.

Greenwood Golf Club in Pattaya is a 27-hole layout and one of the most picturesque golf courses in Pattaya with beautiful landscaping. The course will provide a satisfying challenge for all golfers and the relatively flay layout is made more interesting by the man-made elevation change. Designed by multiple Open Champion Peter Thomson it is no surprise that he has used sand to protect the course rather than water and many of the sand traps are quite deep.

The course is surrounded by forests, native hardwood trees, creeks and lakes. Being far from the city, the weather is clear with most days of bright blue skies and comfortable temperatures. Soi Dao caters to those who are looking for a pleasant round in a natural environment, as opposed to the artificial championship course found more often than not these days.
