The name Greg Norman, is known throughout the world of golf. Not only was the Australian a great golfer in his own right, he is now established as one of the leading golf course designers in the world. Whichever continent you care to look at, Norman has designed a course and Asia is no different. Back in 1995, Norman designed a course on the island of Batam, a short ferry ride from the shore of Singapore, called Tering Bay Golf and Country Club
Tamarin Santana Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus designed 9-hole par 36 course located in the Nongsa Resorts area on the north-eastern tip of Batam Island. It features an attractive undulating layout with trees lining most fairways. There are well-placed water hazards, narrow landing areas and quite quick and well bunkered greens. The course has great transport links and has become famous on the island for the impressive design and use of the natural terrain.
Southlinks Golf Course is an 18-hole championship golf course located a short distance from Singapore on the tropical island of Batam. The course was originally designed by Hisamitsu Ohnishi, one of Japan’s best known golf courses designers and he did an excellent job of using the natural features of the land without destroying too much of the natural environment. The owners have continued to improve the course and recently added floodlights on the last four holes to slightly extend the playing time.
Palm Springs Golf & Country Club on Batam Island in Indonesia is just a short ferry ride from Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry terminal which is very close to Changi Airport. When you arrive at Nongsapura Ferry Terminal it’s a 5-minute bus ride to the clubhouse which overlooks a very pretty palm-fringed beach.

Padang Golf Sukajadi is an 18-hole championship course, designed originally by Thomson, Wolveridge and Perrett, and later remodelled by PT. Flora Tjipta Sarana.
Indah Puri Golf Resort, was established in 1993, on the Island of Batam, just off the coast of Singapore. Located in the Sekupang region of Batam, Indah Puri was designed by Ronald Fream and is just a 30-minute drive from Batam Centre Ferry Terminal.
Batam HIlls Golf Resort on the Indonesian Batam Island, previously known as Paradise Bay has undergone a transformation since the new owners took over in 2006. The Batam Hills Golf Resort is located on the west of the island, in part of the Waterfront City development. To get to the course is relatively straightforward by ferry and then a short drive across the island which offers some spectacular views.
