Phuket golf courses

Phuket is one of Asia's premier golf destinations, offering stunning golf courses, beautiful weather, luxurious hotels, and pristine white-sand beaches. The island is easily accessible, with direct flights from most major Asian cities, making it perfect for a golf getaway.

Phuket boasts seven top-quality golf courses, with another four nearby in Phang Nga province. Each course offers unique challenges and picturesque settings, making it difficult to choose where to play. Here’s a glimpse into some of Phuket’s finest courses.

Red Mountain Golf Club is a standout, renowned for its dramatic changes in elevation as it winds through old mining land. The par-3 17th hole, with a tee box 150 feet above the green, is particularly memorable. This course offers a mix of risk and reward options, making it a thrilling experience for golfers of all skill levels.

Blue Canyon Country Club is another iconic venue, home to two courses: the Canyon Course and the Lakes Course. The Canyon Course is undergoing renovations to restore its former glory as one of Asia’s top courses. It features a challenging layout with water hazards and lush green scenery, notably on the famous stretch from the 11th to the 15th holes. The Lakes Course, slightly newer, also presents a water-rich challenge, with stunning views and well-designed holes.

Laguna Golf Phuket, a resort course, is known for its strategic layout rather than length. Recent renovations have enhanced its appeal, making it a top choice for golfers looking for a challenge without overly taxing their physical stamina.

Mission Hills Golf Resort, designed by Jack Nicklaus, offers breathtaking ocean views and a course that plays over the Andaman Sea at times. Despite some maintenance inconsistencies, its scenic beauty and unique layout make it a must-play.

Loch Palm Golf Club and Phuket Country Club offer shorter, more strategic courses that are well-suited for golfers of all abilities. Loch Palm is conveniently located and features water hazards on several holes, while Phuket Country Club, the island’s first course, is ideal for beginners and those looking for a more relaxed round.

Booking a golf holiday in Phuket offers a wealth of options, with courses that cater to all levels of play. Whether you’re tackling the challenging Canyon Course or enjoying the scenic beauty of Mission Hills, Phuket provides an unforgettable golf experience. Tee times can be easily booked, allowing golfers to enjoy these courses during the cooler morning hours, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable round.

A popular resort course with at least one hole you won't forget in a hurry The first course built in Phuket back in 1989 and conveniently located in the centre of the island amidst rolling hills, limestone cliffs and landscaped forests, the original 18-hole course at Phuket Country Club has aged well and remains a firm favourite, especially since the introduction of buggies. It’s short by modern standards, at just 6,484 yards from the back tees, which means even high handicappers can give a good account of themselves, but there’s still plenty to keep better players interested.

Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort is the most scenic course in Phuket with many holes running beside the sea. A Jack Nicklaus design which can play very long depending on the prevailing wind. Greens are a little slow but course generally in good shape.

When you hear the name ‘Hula Hula’ in Krabi, Thailand, you may be forgiven for thinking it is some form of bar or nightclub. However, its full title is Hula Hula Golf Club and this is one of the top golf courses in Krabi.

The most spectacular golf course in Phuket and worth every penny Set in the dramatically undulating landscape of an old tin mine amidst thick jungle, picturesque lakes and the red mountainside from which it took its name, Red Mountain Golf Club is quite simply one of the most spectacular courses in the world, let alone Thailand. Thanks to some memorable holes and the stunning views on offer from its high points, this is an essential stop on any Phuket golf holiday.

A long-time Phuket favourite where a dry ball should ensure a good score Spectacularly set in a basin surrounded by mountainous jungle, Loch Palm Golf Club has been a firm favourite on the Phuket golf tour since its inception in 1993. More straightforward than some of its more illustrious competitors - but still with enough challenges to test golfers of all abilities thanks largely to the loch itself - this is a hugely enjoyable course.

An enjoyably challenging resort course that has played host to Asian Tour events Graced with the refreshing breezes of the Andaman sea and the tropical beauty for which the area is known, Laguna Golf Phuket has laid claim to one of the top golf courses in Phuket following extensive remodelling in 2015. Once flat greens are now heavily shaped, making putting quite a challenge, and cleverly-placed bunkers now dot fairways featuring numerous bumps and hollows, placing a premium on careful and thoughtful course management and club selection.

Less famous but no less exciting than its sister course—a hugely satisfying experience The younger sibling to the more famous Canyon course, the Lakes Course at Blue Canyon Country Club has emerged from big brother's shadow to become an excellent course in its own right thanks to rebuilt TifEagle greens and additional bunkers. Sweeping through dramatic scenery and peppered with lakes and canyons, it’s a demanding course with enough leeway that an off-day isn't too heavily punished if you can avoid the creeks and bunkers that intrude upon many of the fairways.

Phuket's only true championship course and site of some storied exploits by Tiger Woods Three times the host of the Johnnie Walker Classic, won here in 1998 by a certain Mr. Tiger Woods, the Canyon Course at Blue Canyon Country Club offers you the opportunity to measure yourself against the greats on what is consistently recognised as one of the best courses in Thailand. Weaving its way around an abandoned tin mine and taking advantage of the sheer cliffs of the canyons themselves, the course is a treat for any golfer and a must-play course on any golf holiday in Thailand.
