Batam Hills Golf Resort
Batam Hills Golf Resort, formerly known as Paradise Bay, has been significantly revamped since new ownership took over in 2006. Located on the west side of Batam Island within the Waterfront City development, it’s easily accessible by ferry and a short drive with scenic views along the way. Note that the course no longer accepts bookings from agents.
The clubhouse at Batam Hills is welcoming, offering excellent service and a restaurant where guests can enjoy meals and drinks while overlooking the course. The golf course, redesigned by Max Wexler, features two distinct nines. The front nine meanders through the jungle with tree-lined, undulating fairways, providing a challenging and memorable experience. The back nine is more open and less hilly but still offers a solid test of golf.
This par 72 course is relatively short, with wide fairways and quick greens, making it suitable for all skill levels. The front nine is particularly noted for its scenic beauty and memorable play. Buggies are mandatory, and caddies, who are knowledgeable and well-trained, are available for hire.
The course design includes no par 4s longer than 400 yards, allowing golfers to make par with accurate tee shots and short irons. The 4th hole is a 165-yard par 3 surrounded by five bunkers, requiring a precise shot to avoid trouble. The 7th hole is a challenging short par 5 where positioning off the tee is crucial for a chance to reach the green in two.
Batam Hills continues to improve each year and is on track to become a must-play destination for golfers.
