Tering Bay Golf Club
Greg Norman, a legendary golfer and esteemed course designer, created Tering Bay Golf and Country Club in 1995. Situated on Batam Island, just a short ferry ride from Singapore, this 18-hole, par-72 course offers a maximum length of 6,405 meters. It features lush vegetation and scenic views of Tering Bay, making for an enjoyable round.
The course presents a mix of challenges, primarily from water hazards such as lakes that require strategic decisions on whether to risk crossing them or lay up. The design includes large, deep bunkers with fine sand and hilly terrain, with wind often adding an extra layer of difficulty.
One notable hole is the 5th, where an elevated tee shot must navigate a water hazard that crosses the fairway 200 yards from the tee. Players must choose between laying up or attempting to drive over the water.
While the clubhouse and facilities—including a restaurant, coffee shop, driving range, and putting green—are modest by modern standards, the course itself offers a rewarding golfing experience. Many visitors choose to stay in Singapore and make the short trip to Batam, though nearby accommodations are also available.
