The Marina Bay Golf Course in Singapore has permanently closed as of July 2024 to make way for a residential development. This closure is significant as Marina Bay was the only 18-hole public golf course in Singapore
Marina Bay Golf Course, located in the heart of Singapore, was renowned for its blend of lush tropical gardens and breathtaking views of the Marina Bay skyline. Designed by South African Phil Jacobs, this par-72 course measured 6,493 meters and featured challenging fairways and unique design elements, making it one of Asia's best links courses. The course was also home to a massive four-tier, 150-bay driving range, operating daily from morning until late evening.
The course's first hole was a standout, presenting a deceptively short 324 meters with a vast shared fairway and numerous bunkers, challenging golfers from the start. The 4th hole, a 617-meter par 6, was Singapore's longest and tested golfers' skills with its narrow fairways and water hazards. The 13th hole, a signature par 3, required precision to reach its island green, while the final par 5 hole tempted long hitters with the possibility of reaching the green in two shots, provided they navigated the stream and bunkers guarding the approach.
