The Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club, originally opened in 1982 and designed by Ronald Fream, is one of Singapore's premier golf courses. It underwent a significant $12 million refurbishment led by Andrew Johnston, who enhanced the course by lengthening it to 6,675 meters, reshaping the greens, and introducing advanced green maintenance technology. These updates have solidified its reputation, earning it the title of "Number 1 Championship Golf Course in Asia" by Asian Golf Monthly.
The course is known for its challenging layout, with strategically placed bunkers and water hazards. The first hole sets the tone with a tricky approach to a green overlooking a waterfall. The par-3 2nd offers stunning city views but demands precision to avoid the bunkers guarding the multi-tiered green. The 3rd hole, a tough par-4, requires an accurate drive to navigate the raised landing area and avoid the pot-bunkers. The 5th hole, the signature par-4, features a drive towards the Singapore skyline, with a long approach avoiding a vast waste bunker.
On the back nine, the par-5 12th, though the shortest, demands three well-struck shots to reach the green, offering a birdie opportunity. The 13th hole challenges players with water along the right and a narrow landing area. The par-3 14th boasts a sloping green and views of Singapore Harbor, while the 17th, surrounded by bunkers, requires accuracy. The finishing hole is a dramatic par-4 with water guarding the left side, demanding strategic play.
