Despite being relatively short at 6,800 yards, the course presents numerous hazards, including bunkers and water features, requiring careful play. The course was significantly impacted by the 2011 floods, losing many mature trees and necessitating the re-laying of all greens. However, new management has greatly improved service and maintenance, restoring its appeal.
The front nine is straightforward, with holes crisscrossing the course, but the back nine is more dynamic and picturesque. Highlights include the 9th hole, a zigzag par-5 once ranked among the top 500 holes globally, and the par-3 11th with an island green surrounded by water and a large bunker. The 13th hole, the course’s most difficult, demands precise shot placement around a water hazard, while the drivable par-4 15th challenges players to navigate an out-of-bounds area. The 16th hole is memorable for its lone palm tree obstructing the approach to the green.
The course’s greens are fast and true, contributing to the overall challenge. Bangkok Golf Club also offers floodlit play, ideal for late tee times or after-work rounds. The clubhouse features traditional Thai massage, Japanese and Western dining options, and simple on-site accommodation.
