Bangsai Country Club
Bangsai Country Club, located near Ayutthaya, Thailand's former capital, opened in 1996. Originally an 18-hole course, it has expanded to a 27-hole layout, offering an enjoyable and affordable golfing experience. Though still somewhat under the radar, it has become a regional favorite.
The course, designed by Thai architect Pirapon Namatra, skillfully integrates the natural landscape, featuring rolling fairways, strategic bunkering, and lateral water hazards on 11 holes. Unlike many nearby courses, Bangsai utilizes the area's elevation changes, adding to its charm and playability.
The par-4 7th hole is particularly challenging, requiring a long carry over water to a split fairway guarded by rough, bunkers, and a fast, undulating green. The par-4 11th offers a risk-reward opportunity for long hitters, with a dogleg left around a large water hazard and multiple bunkers.
The par-4 14th, considered the signature hole, features 10 teeing grounds and a daunting shot over water to a well-protected green. On the new nine-hole loop, the par-5 7th stands out, demanding precise shots to navigate a narrow fairway and approach a green protected by water.
The clubhouse enhances the experience with excellent facilities, good food, and a welcoming atmosphere. During the week, the course feels almost private, though weekends see a significant influx of local golfers. Bangsai Country Club is a hidden gem offering a delightful blend of challenge and tranquility.
