Gassan Khuntan Golf & Resort, situated about an hour from Chiang Mai amidst forest-covered mountains, has recently undergone renovations and is now in excellent condition. Framed by the Doi Khuntan Mountains, this visually stunning course offers a blend of natural beauty and challenging play.
The course features blind tee shots, dog-legs, an island green, and strategically placed bunkers. Recent upgrades include additional bunkers along the out-of-bounds areas to speed up play and reduce lost balls in the jungle. A standout hole is the 160-yard par-3 5th, with its island green surrounded by bunkers. The 9th hole, with water on the left and bunkers on the right, presents a significant challenge, especially with its elevated green.
Despite its scenic allure and challenging layout, the course is enjoyable and memorable, enhanced by clear mountain air and picturesque waterfalls. The large clubhouse, though somewhat outdated, offers excellent food and views over the course.
Due to its rising popularity, it’s advisable to book tee times early.
