Gassan Legacy Golf Club
Gassan Legacy Golf Club, formerly Gassan Lake City Golf Club, underwent a major renovation by Schmidt-Curley and reopened in 2014 as one of Chiang Mai’s premier courses. The extensive makeover included re-grassing, improved drainage, and the addition of green-side hazards, making the course both visually appealing and challenging.
The course retains many mature trees and features redesigned fairways that reward accuracy over power. With water hazards on every hole, tee shots can be intimidating, but most approach shots avoid water and instead face strategically placed bunkers.
Gassan Legacy is unique with five par-3 holes, ranging from 90 to 180 yards, each requiring a variety of clubs. Notable holes include the challenging par-3 7th with its island green and the demanding par-5 8th, which involves a right-angle dogleg and water hazards throughout. The 17th is a tough par-5 with an S-shaped layout, water hazards, and numerous bunkers.
Despite the challenging layout, the course provides opportunities for all skill levels, especially if the right tee boxes are chosen. The clubhouse, while not modernized, offers essential facilities and a relaxed atmosphere.
