The course's main challenge is avoiding the water hazards that frequently come into play, especially on the front nine. The loch and its tributaries intersect the fairways, punishing wayward shots. Palm trees add to the challenge but are not overly dense. The 4th hole, a long par-3 over water to a semi-island green, is a standout on the front nine.
The back nine features memorable holes, including the 14th, a par-3 with an elevated tee shot to an island green, and the 16th, a par-3 with a sloping, two-tier green guarded by water. The greens' consistency can vary, with some playing faster due to recent renovations, so heeding caddy advice is crucial.
Loch Palm can be crowded on weekends, so midweek play is recommended. The clubhouse, recently renovated, offers excellent facilities, including a pro-shop, restaurant, and a unique floating driving range. While there is an on-site resort for overnight stays, staying in a nearby beach area might offer more activities.
