Mission Hills Golf Club Kanchanaburi
Located just over 100 kilometers from Bangkok in Kanchanaburi, Mission Hills Golf Club is one of Thailand's premier golf destinations. Designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1991, it is one of three Mission Hills courses in Thailand, alongside those in Phuket and Khao Yai. The course is easily accessible via good road links from Kanchanaburi and Bangkok.
Nestled on gently sloping hills near the River Kwai, Mission Hills features classic Nicklaus design elements, including large waste bunkers and palm-lined fairways. The course presents a significant challenge, with five sets of tees accommodating all skill levels. It is known for its well-bunkered greens and strategic design, including split fairways on five holes offering alternative routes to the green.
The par-5 holes are particularly notable, with water hazards adding to the difficulty and scenic beauty. Signature holes include the long 12th and the par-4 17th, which features an island green.
While the golf course impresses with its challenging layout and stunning views, the on-site accommodation is less remarkable. However, the timber clubhouse is a pleasant spot to unwind after a round. Additional amenities include an outdoor coffee shop, lounge, restaurant, meeting rooms, gym, sauna, swimming pool, and driving range.
