Mission Hills Golf Club in Phuket offers one of the island’s most scenic golfing experiences, featuring numerous holes beside the sea. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the course can play long depending on the wind, with generally good course conditions despite some slower greens.
The front nine includes notable holes such as the par-5 2nd, with a challenging tee shot over a sandy area and a daunting approach to an island green. The 4th is a medium-length par-3 with stunning ocean views, though wind can make the green difficult to hit. The 5th hole is surrounded by sand, requiring precision from tee to green. The 7th, a long par-3, has water along the right but mainly affects play from the black tees. The 8th is a short par-4 with a crucial tee shot positioning strategy.
On the back nine, the 10th requires a well-placed drive for a clear approach to a well-protected green. The 11th is a short par-3 that can be tricky with wind. The 12th is a demanding 481-yard par-4, needing a long drive and careful approach. The 13th is a long par-5 with large sandy areas, while the 14th, a short par-4, has a tricky green. The 15th offers a chance for a birdie on the shortest par-5, and the 16th, a short par-3, is guarded by bunkers and a canal. The 17th, a short par-4, requires avoiding a deep hollow, and the finishing hole demands a precise tee shot with water and bunkers in play.
Course maintenance has improved, and the facilities are top-notch, including an excellent hotel and spa. While food and drinks are on the pricier side, they offer high-quality options. For overnight stays, additional information is available.
