Rancho Charnvee Resort & Country Club
D Varee Charvee Golf Course, formerly Rancho Charnvee, is an 18-hole course set within Khao Yai National Park, about two hours from Bangkok. The course is relatively flat, offering a challenge for skilled golfers while remaining accessible for higher handicappers. The picturesque surroundings enhance the overall experience, making it enjoyable even if your game isn’t on point.
The opening hole is a tough start with a tee shot over water and a strategically placed bunker. The 2nd hole is a dogleg par-5 with a lake on the left and a narrow landing area for the second shot, guarded by two large bunkers. The 3rd hole, another dogleg, features a large waste bunker along the left and two significant bunkers near the green. The 4th is a long par-3 with bunkers behind and to the right, requiring a leftward aim. The 5th replicates the 2nd hole’s dogleg layout but includes a large fairway bunker. The 6th is a par-4 with numerous bunkers, while the 7th, a shorter par-3, has a water hazard to the right and bunkers to the left.
The 8th is notable for its large water hazard and fairway bunkers, with a narrow approach to the green. The 9th requires accuracy off the tee to avoid fairway bunkers, but the green is more forgiving.
On the back nine, the 10th features water hazards and a stream near the green, which is flanked by bunkers. The 11th has water along the left side of the fairway, with bunkers protecting the green. The 12th is a challenging par-5 with nine bunkers along the fairway and around the green. The 13th, a long par-3, has four large bunkers surrounding the green, demanding precise club selection. The 14th is a par-5 with fairway bunkers and a large bunker in front of the green. The 15th is a straightforward par-4 with a wide-open green if you land to the left of the fairway. The 16th is a par-4 with a tricky approach to a green guarded by water on the left and a bunker on the right. The 17th is a medium-length par-3 with two large bunkers, while the 18th is a driveable par-4 with water to the right and a well-protected green.
The clubhouse overlooks a small pond, and while there is no driving range, the rest of the facilities are excellent, and the restaurant offers good local cuisine.
