Royal Gems Golf and Sports Club in Bangkok is an exclusive gem and a must-play for avid golfers. Officially recognized by the United States Golf Association, it meets championship standards in both layout and facilities.
The course, set amidst mature trees and shrubs, offers a challenging test with tight fairways, long roughs, deep bunkers, and water hazards. The fast greens add to the difficulty. The par-3s are particularly tough, featuring forced water carries on three out of four holes.
Access to this elite course is limited, with tee times available only through select authorized agents, including us. The layout begins with a relatively straightforward long par-5, but the challenge intensifies quickly. The second hole, a tough par-4, is bordered by a beach bunker and water, while the third is a demanding par-3 with water on two sides of the green. The sixth hole, another challenging par-4, requires negotiating water twice to reach a well-protected green.
The back nine starts with four slightly easier holes. The 10th hole requires careful club selection to avoid water behind the green. The 14th and 16th holes introduce more difficulty with water hazards and length, respectively. The 17th par-3 features water along the right and numerous bunkers. The finishing 18th hole is a memorable challenge with a narrow landing area and an island green flanked by bunkers.
