Sawang Resort & Golf Course

Located about 50 minutes north of Hua Hin, Sawang Resort and Golf Course is a hidden gem offering a peaceful and picturesque golfing experience. Designed by Isao Katsumata and opened in 1993, the course provides a fair challenge with its rolling fairways and multiple tee options suitable for golfers of all skill levels. Surrounded by rice fields, fruit orchards, and views of the Phetchburi Hills, the course is a serene retreat away from the busier Hua Hin courses.

Originally an 18-hole layout, the resort now boasts an additional nine-hole North Course, which has matured beautifully, offering a well-defined and enjoyable playing experience. The signature hole is the 217-yard par-3 21st, with an elevated tee providing stunning views of the surrounding area.

The original 18 holes remain the highlight, featuring tree-lined fairways, large lakes, and smooth greens that test a golfer's skill and imagination. Notable holes include the par-5 2nd, where water runs along the left side, challenging even the longest hitters. The 3rd hole is a near 90º dogleg that demands precision off the tee.

On the back nine, the par-3 11th, though short at 160 yards, can be tricky with water hazards lurking near the green. The standout hole is the par-4 17th, a nearly 500-yard challenge that requires a nerve-racking carry over water twice to reach the island green. The course concludes with a par-5 18th, where accuracy is key to avoiding water hazards on both sides.

Though facilities are basic, the course's year-round excellent condition makes it well worth a visit for those seeking a quieter, yet challenging round of golf.
