Sir James Country Club (Forest Hill Country Club)
Sir James Resort & Country Club in Khao Yai, formerly known as Forest Hills, is conveniently located closer to Bangkok than many other Khao Yai golf courses, making it a great stop either en route to or from the national park. This well-designed parkland course, set in the foothills of Khao Yai, features scenic streams, lakes, and waterfalls, alongside vibrant flower beds and native shrubs that enhance its visual appeal.
The course is framed by lush forest-covered hills, and when the natural backdrop is absent, colorful flower beds and water hazards fill the space. Staying on the fairways is crucial, as straying into the thick rough or plants can leave you with challenging recovery shots.
Notable holes include the par-3 4th, the signature hole, which plays from an elevated tee to a water-encircled green, and the par-4 18th, which also starts from an elevated tee and requires an approach over water to an elevated green. The 3rd hole offers a thrilling downhill drive, with the potential for an eagle if you manage to avoid the water hazard.
While not overly difficult, the course features enough bunkers, water hazards, and doglegs, combined with elevation changes and tricky greens, to challenge most golfers. The clubhouse provides a great terrace with views of the course and a restaurant for post-round meals in a cool jungle setting.
