Thana City Country Club
Thana City Golf Club, designed by Greg Norman, is the only course of its kind in Thailand, located conveniently close to Bangkok. Recently refurbished, it has a rich history of hosting prestigious events and is ideal for golfers playing on their first or last day in the city. The course features mature trees lining the fairways and water hazards on several holes, rewarding accuracy off the tee. The greens are well-protected by bunkers, many with high lips, adding to the challenge.
On the front nine, notable holes include the 2nd, a par-4 with bunkers guarding the landing area and green; the 3rd, a par-3 complicated by a stream crossing in front of the green; and the 9th, a tricky par-4 with water along the left and a stream crossing the fairway. The back nine is equally challenging, with the 13th, 14th, 16th, and 18th holes featuring island greens surrounded by water, testing your nerves on approach shots.
The course can get crowded on weekends due to its proximity to Bangkok, and being under the flight path of Suvarnabhumi Airport, some noise might disrupt your game. The renovated clubhouse is modern and part of a larger sports complex that includes a swimming pool, driving range, short-game practice facilities, and a golf academy. The well-stocked pro shop offers reasonably priced gear, and the restaurant serves a variety of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine, making Thana City Golf Club a top choice for golfers in Bangkok.
