Long Bien Golf Course, the newest addition to Hanoi's golf scene, is just 30 minutes from the city center. This resort-style course, featuring mainly man-made obstacles, is enjoyable for all skill levels and has quickly become a local favorite. Currently, only 18 holes are open, with an additional nine set to open soon.
The course is relatively short and not overly challenging, making it ideal for accurate players rather than long hitters. Although still maturing, the layout includes deep bunkers, water hazards, and out-of-bounds areas. Noise from the nearby military airport may occasionally disrupt play, but the course's openness and attractive design offer a pleasant experience.
Key holes include the driveable par-4 3rd, where a missed attempt leaves a tough up-and-down, and the downhill par-3 6th, a signature hole requiring a precise tee shot over water to a tiered green. The front nine ends with a short par-5 that offers a birdie opportunity if approached correctly. On the back nine, the long par-4 10th challenges players to avoid deep fairway bunkers, while the par-3 5th can be tricky with wind and water hazards. The penultimate par-5 is the toughest, demanding careful play on all three shots to the green. The finishing hole is a potential card-wrecker with a tricky approach over water.
The clubhouse is luxurious, featuring a grand entrance with a crystal chandelier, and the course includes a 52-bay driving range, floodlights, and well-equipped male caddies with range-finders.
