Montgomerie Links
Once voted by Forbes as one of Asia's top ten elite courses, this links-style golf course is a Monty classic, featuring wind-blown sand dunes, natural vegetation, and signature casuarina trees lining the fairways. The course offers a mix of natural waste areas and water hazards that challenge players, with many greens surrounded by bunkers.
The course opens with a par-5 where the fairway is more forgiving than it appears, followed by a sheltered par-3 influenced by the wind. The 4th hole, a long par-4, has fairway bunkers and a bowl-shaped green, while the 5th par-3 requires a shot across water, where wind makes club selection tricky. The 6th hole’s tee box is adjacent to a Vietnam War pillbox, leading to a downhill fairway with water guarding the green.
The back nine starts with a wide-open 10th hole, followed by an uphill par-3 heavily guarded by bunkers on the 11th. The 12th hole is a par-5 with 17 bunkers and a sloping green, demanding precise shots. The 14th is a challenging par-3 with water on the right, and the 15th offers a driveable par-4 with risks. The visually stunning 16th hole is a scoring opportunity if you avoid the right-side bunker. The course finishes with the longest hole, a birdie opportunity for big hitters, leading uphill to an undulating green past numerous bunkers.
A large, modern clubhouse and excellent practice facilities complete the experience at this outstanding golf course.
